Our network

Rooted in Germany, mgw Service has extended its maintenance network across Europe, supported by its partner service providers. As we stretch our combination of on-site our mobile services, we keep developing new locations where our customers need us.


Customer Information Centre 

mgw Service provides you with up-to-date information about the status and location of your rolling stock. Our web-based Customer Information Centre (CIC) lets you check the status of your locomotive to see if it is in use, being maintained or being kept stationary for any specific reason. As the CIC is an online service, you can consult it from anywhere, at any time.

Once each individual maintenance operation is completed, the maintenance protocol with all relevant details and measured parameters is signed by our service technicians and uploaded to the CIC. Simultaneously, you will be informed – typically by email – that the work has been completed and your locomotive is available for operation again. As there is almost no delay between maintenance finalisation and the vehicle’s release from our workshop, your fleet availability is optimised.

An expanding service network

With Kassel as central coordinator, the frontline maintenance operations hub in Germany is located at Krefeld. Based on existing railway depot premises, our workshop was built in 2009 for locomotive maintenance and wheelset machining. It is fully equipped with a modern maintenance hall with two tracks, a wheel lathe, lifting equipment, two inspection pits and the building’s original roundhouse. A centre of excellence staffed by mgw Service personnel, the site has its own spare parts inventory and can also be operational for wheelset machining at weekends if required.

Outside Germany, the company uses a workshop in Hallsberg, Sweden to deploy its maintenance planners and service technicians, and an mgw Service office in Strasbourg is dedicated to managing customers in France. Mobile maintenance technicians are meanwhile deployed in Germany, Italy, France, Sweden and Poland. As well as our own personnel and facilities, we also have longstanding relationships with a network of qualified maintenance partners in countries across Europe.




The CIC’s services are complemented by our 24/7 maintenance hotline, which combines a technical specialist with a translator for your particular language. The hotline is available from any country in Europe where mgw Service operates.
